AIAG CQI - Plating System Assessment (PSA) training course of The Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG)
Special Process: Plating System Assessment (CQI-AIAG) 3rd Edition was developed by AIAG with the aim of helping to better evaluate quality systems at plating facilities that provide automotive platings such as electroplating. zinc and zinc alloys, decorative plating applied to the metal or plastic substrate, and hard chromium deposition, as well as non-electrolytic nickel and electropolishing processes. The goal of the PSA 3rd edition is to update as needed, improve document clarity, and include the ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949:2016 Quality Management System concepts for “Approach” according to process” and “Risk management”.
CQI-11 is a standard developed by the AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group) designed to assess and improve plating processes in the automotive industry. This standard is part of the CQI-xx series of standards to ensure that suppliers in the automotive supply chain maintain and improve the quality of their products. Purpose and scope of CQI-11:
1. Purpose of CQI-11
- Improving the quality of electroplating processes: The main objective of CQI-11 is to ensure that electroplating processes are performed consistently and meet quality requirements in the automotive industry. This includes preventing product defects and improving production efficiency.
- Process assessment and control: CQI-11 was developed so that suppliers can self-assess their electroplating processes in a systematic and standardized manner. This assessment helps to identify non-conformances or potential defects in the plating process.
- Continuous improvement: This standard encourages suppliers to not only comply with current requirements but also to look for opportunities to improve the quality and performance of the electroplating process.
- Meeting the requirements of OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers): CQI-11 ensures that suppliers in the automotive supply chain can meet the strict requirements of vehicle manufacturers (OEMs). This helps to maintain the reputation of the supplier and meet the quality expectations of the OEM.
- Minimizing errors and risks: This standard focuses on controlling and minimizing potential risks associated with the electroplating process, thereby minimizing product defects and damage during production.
2. Scope of application of CQI-11
- Applicable to all suppliers using electroplating processes: CQI-11 applies to all suppliers in the automotive industry supply chain that use electroplating processes for metal parts or components. Electroplating processes can include zinc plating, nickel plating, chrome plating and many other types of plating.
VINTECOM International conducted a 3-days AIAG CQI training course according the CQI-11 3rd version Plating System Assessment was created to ensure auto parts manufacturers and suppliers. develops a plating quality management system based on continuous improvement of the best practices of the electroplating industry.
KPF VINA is known as one of the leading manufacturers of bolted products that are highly appreciated for their quality on the market today. With the highest quality standards guaranteed, the product is flexibly applied in many structural systems, ensuring both bearing capacity and durability for the application. The Company's implementation of the AIAG-CQI course with the aim of raising the company's product quality management to a new level to meet the strict conditions when joining in the auto parts supply chain.
The AIAG-CQI course conducted by the international delegation of VINTECOM includes training to guide the requirements of the standard on:
o Process Table A – Zinc and Zinc Alloy Plating
o Process Table H – Hydrogen Embrittlement Relief Process
o Process Table I – Process Control and Testing Equipment Verification and Calibration
Process Tables include requirements for:
1. Process and test equipment
2. Process monitoring frequencies
3. In-process/Final test frequencies
4. Test frequencies
Process Tables specify the tolerances of process parameters and the frequency of testing components and process control parameters.
